The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.
“Last year, I had the chance to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are a critical part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they are given to create nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume help along with budgeting and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to provide meals for six families for the month.
“Everyone was so thrilled that we had this food drive for them, and they even took us around their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
