The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.
“Last year, I had the chance to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go beyond collecting food – they are an essential part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they are given to make nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume help along with financial and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Since each family receives around 50 pounds of food to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so thrilled that we had this food drive for them, and they even took us around their incredible facility,” Wilson said.
