We’ve discussed a few of the most common air conditioning problems Haltom City faces, but today we are here to tell you about some common air conditioner troubles that you can help troubleshoot.
The A/C is on but not blowing cool air.
If your A/C system is running but not really cooling, you might need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is required to make sure the air being released from the system is truly cool and keeps your home comfortable. Low refrigerant is often a sign of a leak or that the system wasn’t charged correctly.
One way to confirm if you are low on refrigerant is to go out to your air conditioning system and find the two copper pipes. If the bigger pipe is “sweating” or producing condensation, put your hand on the pipe and feel if it’s cold. If it is, you are likely good to go and do not need extra refrigerant.
If you’re not convinced or the pipe is not covered in condensation and is not cold when you feel it, call Stark Services and we’ll pay you a visit and confirm your refrigerant levels and discover why your AC is not blowing cool air. Note: only an EPA Certified technician should handle refrigerant for central air conditioning systems, due to the dangers of handling this potentially dangerous chemical.
You air condenser fan isn’t spinning.
There are multiple reasons your condenser fan might not be turning. One might be that it simply burned out and you have to get a replacement. Humidity generally causes more condensation so another problem to look out for is that the water is not draining properly or that the drain is blocked. If you can confirm these things, you may be able to find the issue; but, if not, give Stark Services a call and we can determine what is preventing your condenser fan from turning and go over your options to get your A/C system problem resolved.
Your A/C is not providing ample air cooling.
It sounds crazy, but try lowering your thermostat. It seems absurd but sometimes we tend to overlook the obvious. If that doesn’t get your home cooling and comfortable again, check and swap out the air filter. If the air filter is clogged, it could cause significant cooling troubles. Another issue that could be causing your lack of cooling is an A/C system that is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are constructed. Stark Services is happy to come out and conduct an analysis to determine if the size of your AC is causing your issues.
AC shuts on and off constantly
If your A/C system is short cycling, or turning on or off consistently, it could mean one of a few things. One option is that your condenser or evaporator is clogged or dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the system is cleaned and all blockages moved aside, you may be back to a regular running AC. Note that humidity also plays a role so if your house cools to the correct temperatures, but then the humidity causes the house to heat up quickly, it could result in an on-again, off-again air conditioner because it’s having to work overtime to keep your home cool and comfortable.
No matter your trouble, whatever typical or atypical air conditioning issue you run into, Stark Services is here for you 24/7/365. We are available anytime so we can get your AC system cooling and get your home comfortable as soon as possible.
